Pentax K1 Super Resolution Mode: In-Depth Comparison to StdRes Mode (Dolls)
See my Pentax K1 wish list at B&H Photo.
SuperRes pixel shift mode (“SR-PSM”) merges 4 exposures into one raw file. The raw converter must then take those 4 exposures and (somehow) create an RGB pixel for each pixel in the image.
In-depth analysis with many crops demonstrates a clear advantage for the Pentax K1 Super Resolution pixel shift mode.

Includes images up to 28 megapixels along with many A/B comparison crops which can be toggled for easy viewing.
If nothing else, product and tabletop photographers will not find higher quality in a DSLR as of mid 2016. The pinprick micro contrast and freedom from color moiré is outstanding.
The Pentax K1 in SuperRes mode may well be superior to most medium format cameras in its ability to render supremely sharp detail free of color moiré and aliasing. Ultra low noise is a bonus implying exceptional dynamic range (assuming Adobe fixes the veiling blue haze problem in ACR).
