Leica M Typ 240 / M240 Can Have a Dead Pixel Column Too (same as With The M9)
Reader Andrew Wonder sends a Leica M Typ 240 image that shows a dead pixel column running the entire height of the sensor.
I first reported on this dead pixel column issue with my Leica M9P (CCD sensor) in Sensor Defect: Bad Pixel Column, thinking it might mainly be a CCD issue.
But it’s clear that the CMOS sensor in the M240 can exhibit the same issue. The dead column can be mapped out in firmware (by Leica), but I am not persuaded that this is sufficient: on certain types of straight lines, that missing column won’t look right, see example further below.
