Adobe Camera Raw 7.4 rc1 on Fuji X Files
I downloaded Adobe Camera Raw 7.4 rc1* and tested it on my Yosemite Pines example, which shows unappealing fractal like detail rendition.
Version 7.4 rc1 is definitely different in its fine detail rendition (color in particular), but it does NOT reduce the fractal-like image rendition in my Yosemite Pines example. It might address the “color bleed” issue (as yet I have not tested that), but that’s the lesser of two digital artifacting issues with the Fuji X sensor.
See also Fujifilm X-Pro1 Artifacts: Presented in Color and Black and White and my original Yosemite Pines example as well as the larger versions in Guide to Mirrorless, found in my review of the Fuji X-Pro1 in Fractal-like Artifacts: Yosemite Pines (ACR).
As good as the dynamic range and color rendition of the Fuji X-Trans sensor is, I prefer the artifact-free razor sharpness of the Sigma DP Merrill cameras.
* Regrettably, the ACR 7.4 update does not include support for the Sigma DP Merrill.
